Amanda Valerugo
Amanda is a strong-willed, stubborn woman, with a positive attitude that is conveyed by her beautiful smile. Born with Spina Bifida, she is paralyzed from the waist on down and walks with below the knee braces and crutches. She drives an adaptive car and goes to work everyday as long as she is feeling well. She has had over 25 surgeries in her life before she was diagnosed with the Breast Cancer. She has handled it all with fortitude and perseverance and rarely complains. Her day is an effort every day as she handle and deals with what is her life. She is a joy!
Amanda's Breast Cancer diagnosis was was made in January of 2014. Amanda found the lump, had an ultrasound, set-up for biopsy when she ended up at the emergency room because her back hurt and it was hard to walk. An MRI was done and a tumor was found on her back that had broken the T-6. She received radiation for the back, then a biopsy with a later confirmation of the cancer. Amanda's parents, Ken & Gloria, have been friends and supporters of the BTB Foundation since it's founding. We're incredibly honored to be able to help them in their time of need! Funds raised at this year's event will go towards the numerous procedures and medicine not covered by their insurance. |
